Here are the answers to the letters >sent to me about Sola Scriptura #1, and the So-called Purgatory. >Altogether 7 files. I must say, your zeal is certainly commendable. To be perfectly honest, I'm not sure when I'm going to find the time to finish reading the first set of seven messages you sent me, let alone seven more equally-lengthy ones. I do not wish to neglect your point of view, however, nor do I want to try and arbitrarily pick which of your arguments I ought to be dealing with. Perhaps it is time to try and summarize things. If you are willing, I would like to ask that you send me the 2 or 3 arguments that you feel are the most important or that do the best job of defending your position. Below is listed the chief point that I feel weighs against the doctrine of Sola Scriptura. To take things logically, ... ...including human understanding. So anyway, that's the argument I find most telling against Sola Scriptura as an attack on Apostolic Tradition. I imagine you will want to reply to what is written above, and I invite you to do so if you wish. But I would like to ask that if you do, you also send me a separate message presenting me with what you consider the best argument(s) in favor of your position (and it might not be inappropriate for you to remind me exactly what your position is--I've been throwing "Sola Scriptura" around because it's in all the subject headers, but I'm not certain that Sola Scriptura is the main point you are after). Take care and God Bless.
